FARMCurious Fermentation Set

I love sharing things I use and love with my readers. 🙂 You all know how much I love reCaps. Well, now FARMCurious has taken the reCap to a whole new level, by turning it into a fermenting cap for use with any wide-mouth mason jar! Pretty cool, huh?

How It Works
When air gets in your fermenting jar it can sometimes encourage mold and yeast growth. To prevent this, we use the mason jar lids, but because they trap in fermenting gases the jars must be “burped” daily during active fermentation to avoid explosions.

The FARMCurious Fermenting Set keeps oxygen out while allowing the gases to escape. The reCap screws on to any wide-mouth mason jar, with a silicone gasket in the lid for an airtight seal. A rubber bung with airlock inserted into the spout lets carbon dioxide out. Easy-peasy!

Kickstarter Campaign
FARMCurious has launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund the cost of bringing the Fermenting Set to market. Once funded, these sets will be available for purchase online. I’m very pleased to be involved in this Kickstarter campaign. I’ve donated an original recipe, which will be available as part of an ebook collection featuring several notable food and fermentation bloggers!

How do these create a low oxygen environment? Do the lids make a tight seal or do you just fill use enough water to cover all the way up? I just ordered 2 from amazon.com.
